(KMJ) – Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer launches a new campaign to crackdown on litter across the city.
This multi-media effort encourages residents to do their part to keep Fresno clean by properly disposing their waste, such as paper wrappers, empty bottles and cans, and cigarette butts.
The campaign theme is “Don’t Be A Litterhead” and will run multiple advertisements over the next few months.
“With everyone’s help, we can make a huge difference in the way our community looks and feels about itself,” said Mayor Dyer “Remember, 85 percent of all litter is intentional, but it’s 100 percent preventable.”
Last summer, the Fresno City Council approved a $100,000 for marketing in the Beautify Fresno budget for Fiscal Year 2022. “Don’t Be A Litterhead” was created by JP Marketing, a local advertising agency under contract with the City of Fresno’s Department of Public Utilities, which houses Beautify Fresno and Solid Waste Divisions.
In addition to the marketing campaign, Mayor Dyer also announced newly-formed Beautify Fresno sanitation crews will begin pro-actively picking up trash and litter around the city in the coming weeks, with an emphasis on Downtown Fresno, Chinatown, and Council District 7 in the Central Fresno area.
