(KMJ) – The former Chief of Staff to a Fresno County Supervisor pleads guilty to violating conflict of interest laws.

Thursday, the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office says Steven Rapada was sentenced for the misdemeanor violation.

In October 2020, the former chief of staff to Supervisor Sal Quintero was found to have a personal financial interest while in contract negotiations on the sale of the old University Medical Center site in southwest Fresno.

Now the DA’s office say Rapada will serve a year-long probation, must complete 60 hours of community service, and is permanently banned from ever holding a public office position throughout the state of California.
