(KMJ) – The California Department of Transportation announces State Route 180, west of Kings Canyon National Park, will close for the season at Hume Lake Road.
Every year, State Route 180 closes for the winter at the Hume Lake Cut-off due to potential rockfalls in the area. And Caltrans typically opens the highway back up in the spring, usually in late April.
The closure will be in effect from Tuesday, November 16 at 12 p.m. until late April 2022, weather permitting.
Closures may continue for longer periods of time if necessary, due to delays caused by weather or uncontrollable events that may occur during maintenance.
