
HANFORD, CA (KMJ) – A man is arrested in Hanford for drug possession and driving under the influence.
On Tuesday, October 26, at 2:24pm, a Kings County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling in the area of N and R Market located at 11998 South 10th Avenue in Hanford.
The Deputy spotted a Toyota Camry in the area with expired vehicle registration, and tried to make a traffic stop by activating his emergency lights.
The driver, Richard Canada, initially refused to pull over, instead continued to a residence at 9950 Houston Avenue and abruptly pulled into the driveway.
As Canada came to a stop, he threw an object out of the driver’s side window.
The Deputy approached Canada, he spotted drug paraphernalia in the driver’s side door.
Canada was detained and the Deputy searched the area for the object thrown from the car.
The Deputy determined that Canada was also under the influence of a controlled substance, presumably Methamphetamine.
Canada was arrested and booked into the Kings County Jail.
He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Bail was set at $50,000.
Canada posted bail and was released.
