(KMJ) – The Tulare County DA’s Office says officers learned 29 year-old Eustajia Dominguez Mojica was warned many times by the child’s father about leaving the children in hot cars.
On June 3, 2021, prosecutors said Mojica drove to her sister’s home in Visalia and parked on the street in the full sun.
She was there to process marijuana.
As Mojica and several others worked and her children played in the yard, the victim – 3-year-old Jessica Campos – remained in the car for over two hours in triple digit heat, until someone asked where the child was.
Officers performed CPR but the girl died at Kaweah Health Medical Center.
The DA’s Office said in a nres release; “Over the fervent objection of prosecutors, the Tulare County Superior Court sentenced Mojica to one year in jail with time served, 4 years felony probation, and 8 years, 8 months suspended state prison,“ which means Mojica would only go to prison in the future if a judge ordered it for violating her probation.
