Violent Parolee Nabbed for Fresno Woman’s Murder

A Fresno man with a history of violence has been taken into custody for a woman’s murder.

The body of 36 year old Crystal Nelson was found by a housekeeper Monday at the Clarion Pointe Motel on N. Blackstone.

On Tuesday, the Fresno PD Street Violence Bureau Tactical Team arrested Leland Guy Eagle Jr. at his paroled address in Fresno.

Investigators reviewed several hours of surveillance video and determined that Nelson arrived with a male acquaintance who was later identified as 36-year-old, Leland Guy Eagle Jr. The investigation revealed Eagle Jr. was the person responsible for Nelson’s murder.

Eagle Jr. was out on parole for a violent offense and the two had been involved in a brief romantic relationship. Eagle Jr. was booked at Fresno County Jail for the murder of Crystal Nelson and a parole violation. The motive for this murder is still being investigated but considered to be domestic violence related.

This was the City’s 60th murder of the year, compared to 41 murders at this time last year.
