FRESNO, CA (KMJ) California’s controversial High Speed Rail project has hit another roadblock,
The LA Times reports Gov. Newsom and legislative leaders in Sacramento have failed to reach a funding compromise and now negotiations are on hold.
At issue is an additional $4.2 billion to build the bullet train. According to the report, the major hurdle comes from lawmakers in the Bay Area and Southern California who are demanding funds be sent their way for the project which is currently under construction only in the Central Valley.
Unless the two sides resume talks soon, any additional money for HSR will have to be negotiated in 2022.
