FRESNO, CA (KMJ) According to a newly released poll, Gov. Newsom is holding on to a slim 2 point lead to retain his office and stave off a recall effort.
The survey from Inside California Politics/Emerson College released Tuesday surveyed 1,000 registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 3%.
Pollsters say 48% of respondents say they would vote to keep Newsom in the recall election which is six weeks away, taking place on Sept. 14.
Meanwhile, 46% say they want to recall Newsom. This is up 3 points from the last poll taken 2 weeks ago. 6% of those voters remain undecided.
As for the GOP candidates hoping to claim the state’s top office, media personality Larry Elder has taken a commanding lead, gaining the support of 23% of those polled.
John Cox (7%), Caytlin Jenner (7%), Kevin Kiley (5%) and Kevin Faulconer (4%) are trailing.
