(KMJ) – The investigation continues into what caused a wild fire that is still burning in Northeast Fresno.

The “Vulcan Fire” broke out just after 5 p.m. Sunday off Friant near Willow on the west side of the roadway.   Cal Fire and the Highway Patrol shutdown roadways in that area due to smoke and flames.  But all road closures have since been lifted.

Cal Fire says crews gained the upper-hand on this blaze within several hours.  At last report, the Vulcan Fire had torched 145 acres and is 50% contained.
