FRESNO, CA (KMJ) — A 10-year-old boy was killed by a driver that did not stop or even slow down Thursday night according to Fresno police.
Police got the call at 10:30 p.m at Friant and Ft. Washington Avenues in Northeast Fresno.
When officers arrived they found the boy, identified as Angel Hernandez, lying in the road.
They immediately began life-saving measures and then an ambulance rushed him to Valley Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Fresno Police Department got a tip Friday morning from somebody who saw the news reports about a black 4-door Chrysler 300 on Emerson near West in Northwest Fresno – the car believed to be the one involved in the hit and run.
Police linked that car to 62-year-old Raymond Celaya.
Officers went to Celaya’s apartment Friday and took him into custody without incident.
He’s being charged with felony hit and run and felony vehicular manslaughter.
