FRESNO, CA — The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Central Division announced a “maximum enforcement period” starting Friday, and ending on Memorial Day Monday.
Officers will be in full force, paying special attention to the Hwy. 41/Hwy. 46 interchange, which is often used by Central Valley residents to get to the Central Coast. It is also a major corridor for truckers.
According to the CHP, the Central Valley has seen a 21.7% rise in deadly crashes so far in 2021.
Law enforcement reminds motorists to ensure their vehicles are in proper condition before traveling, and urge drivers to use seat belts, avoid speeding, and avoid distracted driving as they anticipate heavy traffic through Memorial Day weekend.
