KINGS COUNTY, CA (KMJ) — Two 18-year-olds were arrested on Monday in Hanford after leading Kings County deputies on a chase in a stolen vehicle.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said the stolen 2008 Ford Escape reached speeds up to 130 miles per hour in Kings County.

The chase began around 5:47 p.m. when CHP spotted the stolen car near 19th and Medford Avenues.

CHP lost sight of the vehicle during the chase, but a deputy near 12th Avenue near Kent reinitiated the pursuit.

The stolen car lost control and rolled into a dry canal near the 137,000 block of 9th Avenue.

Kings County K-9 Officer Bos was brought in to assist with the search.

The police dog found Huerta hiding in a shed.

Huerta allegedly struggled with Bos and used his collar and leash to choke him.

Officers hit Huerta with a bean bag round.

He was then arrested, the department said, and taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries sustained during the incident.

Jasper Cardoza was arrested after the trash, but Manuel Huerta ran and was taken down by K-9 Officer Bos. Huerta choked Bos with his leash and collar, which lead him to be shot by a less-lethal round during the struggle. He was taken to a local hospital for his injuries.

Both Cardoza and Huerta were booked in the Kings County Jail for felony pursuit, resisting arrest, and felony possession of stolen property.

Their bail was set at $50,000.
