Man Tries To Save Dog, Both Killed by Train: Tulare Police

 

 

TULARE, CA (KMJ) – Tulare Police say that a man and dog were killed by a train shortly before 8am Monday morning.

Police were called to a report of a train hitting a pedestrian near the intersection of Cross Avenue and J Street.

Witnesses told police it appeared a man was struggling with the dog on the tracks when they were both struck by a train heading northbound.

Police say both the man and the dog were deceased when they arrived.

The victim is a 40 year old Tulare resident.

Authorities are not yet releasing his name so they can notify his family members. Officers also reported the victim lived in an adjacent homeless encampment on Railroad property.
