LOS ANGELES (AP) – Los Angeles police say an officer has been wounded and a gunman killed during a standoff near the University of Southern California.
The gunman died at an Exposition Park home Tuesday afternoon.
Police Chief Michel Moore says the man’s family reported he’d fired a rifle into the air.
Moore says the man refused to surrender and tear gas was fired into the home.
Moore says the gunman shot an officer who was wearing body armor, then came outside and wounded the same officer in the face before dying in a gunfight.
Moore says that officer is shaken but grateful to be alive.
