(KMJ) – A wanted Tulare County parolee is now back behind bars after witnesses reported him beating a small dog in the South Valley.

Around Noon Sunday, Deputies were called to the 1000 block of South State in Earlimart after receiving calls 34-year-old Angel Navarro hit a small dog several times in the head, face and body with a blunt metal object.

Navarro, who was on Post Release Community Supervision, was sought on an active felony warrant for violating his parole. He was arrested and charged with animal abuse.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office says animal control took the dog, said to be a dachshund mix, to Visalia for treatment.
