The FUSD School Board Votes to Remove Fresno High’s Mascot

(KMJ) – The Fresno Unified School board votes to change Fresno High’s long-standing school mascot.

By a 6-1 vote Wednesday night, the Board voted to change the school’s symbol that Native Americans have described as “racist” and “offensive.” Trustee Terry Slatic cast the only “no” vote.

But, Fresno High School will keep the ‘Warriors’ name. And board members say Fresno High students will now design and develop a new image to replace the current mascot for the start of next school year.
