FRESNO (KMJ)  As Gov. Newsom’s latest attempted crackdown on the spread of COVID-19 moves into a more restrictive territory, it’s having a seismic ripple effect on small businesses and restaurants throughout California.

Prime example:  Dave Fansler’s Fansler Restaurant Group which owns Pismo’s Coastal Grill, Westwoods BBQ and Yosemite Ranch Steakhouse in Fresno.  In an exclusive interview with Philip Teresi and Skip Echeverria on KMJ Monday, Fansler said “We’re getting kicked to the curb.  It’s just unbelievable.  I laid off 210 people today.”

“No communication whatsoever…zero communication with regards to that”, Fansler said referring to the state linking the spread of COVID-19 to restaurants.  “There is no tie-in”.

When asked about the method of contact tracing to pinpoint outbreaks, Fansler responded that his trio of restaurants have between 50 to 60-thousand customers monthly and “I’ve never seen a contact tracer, I’ve never heard from a contact tracer.  I don’t know if they even exist.”
