(KMJ) – After more than two months, Mother Nature finally lends a helping hand to firefighters in the Sierra.
Snow at higher elevations and rain at lower elevations fell over the Creek Fire area Saturday. But Sierra National Forest officials say residents need to temper their optimism as the blaze continues to burn.
Incident Fire Behavior Analyst Byron Kimball says, “We may see smoke but we definitely won’t see any movement because the fine fuels have been taken out of the equation.” He adds, “The heavy fuels will continue to burn until they are consumed or we get enough moisture to put them out.”
The Creek Fire has been burning in both Fresno and Madera Counties since September 4th. The cause of this fire remains under investigation.
