Investigators Ask for New Tips in Kerman Cold Case Murder

(KMJ) – The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office hopes someone can provide new tips or information in a Kerman cold case murder.

On July 13, 1982, 24-year old Irene Garza was found dead in the backyard of her Kerman home.  An autopsy revealed the mother of three young sons was murdered.

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims says her husband, Abel Garza, Sr., was identified as a person of interested in her death.  But neither he nor anyone else was ever arrested in this case.

Now detectives hope someone steps forward with new tips or information in this case.  And anyone with new details is asked to contact Sheriff’s Detective Sergio Toscano at (559) 600-8027 or [email protected].
