(KMJ) – A Fresno County judge rules in favor of Immanuel Schools defiance of County heath orders to open for in-person classes.
Tuesday’s ruling denies the Fresno County Environmental Heath Department’s request for a temporary injunction against the Reedley-based private Christian School. But this matter is not completely settled. The judge says he will take this case up again on September 15th.
Following Tuesday’s Ruling, the following statement was released from the Immanuel Board of Trustees and Superintendent Ryan Wood:
We are humbled by the many people who have been praying and supporting our efforts to have students learning on campus. We appreciate the Fresno County Superior Court’s decision to not issue the Temporary Restraining Order which would have prevented our students from continuing on campus instruction. Since returning to school on August 13th, we have seen God’s hand move mightily on our campus and throughout our community. We have seen
first-hand the importance of having school on campus based on the excitement of our students and communication with our families, while also not having a single COVID related illness.
While we are grateful for the opportunity to provide on campus learning, which we believe all students need and deserve, we know today’s decision is not permanent. Therefore, we will continue our legal efforts defending our rights to remain open. Our legal actions will be at both the County and State levels, which includes our lawsuit seeking emergency relief against the Governor and State Health Director. The suit was filed before the State Supreme Court and they have ordered the state to file an opposition by Friday.
