VISALIA, CA (KMJ) — UPDATE: Thursday, June 11, 2020 – The Tulare County District Attorney’s Office announced Ezequiel Ramirez and Jasmine Blase are each charged with one count of murder, assault on a child causing death, and torture.
Ramirez also faces the special circumstance of murder with torture and special allegations of possessing a prior strike and prior felonies.
Both are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon where a future court date will be set.
Blase faces life in prison if convicted, while Ramirez faces the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole.
UPDATE: Wednesday, June 10, 2020 – On Tuesday, we reported that 18-year-old Jasmine Blase had been arrested and charged with child abuse.
An upgraded charge of homicide is now pending.
Police say their child suffered “multiple fractured bones and significant head trauma.”
The child was taken to Valley Children’s Hospital where medical staff determined there were no brain functions and declared the child to be clinically deceased.
23-year-old Ezequiel Ramirez has also been arrested and charged with one count of homicide and a parole violation.
Modified charges are also expected for Blase.

A woman was arrested on June 5th after the Visalia police say she abused her 1-year-old child.
Police were called to a Motel 6 on June 5th just before 11:00 p.m. for an unresponsive child.
Officers say the child was suffering from several severe injuries.
The child was taken to local hospitals in critical condition.
The child’s mother, 18-year-old Jasmine Blase, was arrested booked into the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Facility on charges of “child abuse resulting in great bodily injury.”
The Violent Crimes Unit has taken over the ongoing investigation.
