(KMJ) – A California Highway Patrol Canine Officer sniffs out a major cash find during an April 14th traffic stop in Merced.

Around 1 p.m., Officers pulled over a Ford F-150 pick-up for following too close.  But during that stop, the officers suspected some illegal activity may be going on.  So, they called in Canine Officer Bruce to check out the vehicle.

He alerted officers to the odor of narcotics and the driver, who has not been identified, gave verbal permission to search his truck.  And, inside a freezer container in the truck’s bed, officers found about $200,000 in cash hidden under bags of frozen french fries.

The driver was then transported to the Merced CHP Office for further investigation.  And Officers believe the money is from the sale of narcotics.
