FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Five people have now died from COVID 19 in the San Joaquin Valley.
There are now three counties that have deaths from COVID 19 -Madera, Tulare and Fresno.
Fresno County confirmed its first death from coronavirus on Friday, and 6 more cases.
With now 100 cases, and the death of an elderly patient with underlying health conditions, there is also pivot on wearing masks in Fresno County.
Mirroring the message put out Friday by the Trump administration, Fresno County health officials say now that cloth masks may be good for the public but save the N95 masks for health care workers.
The County of Madera with 28 cases reporting its second death from COVID 19, a woman in her 70’s with underlying health conditions, who health officials believe was infected by another person.
Officials say she tested positive back on March 25th.
In Madera County, it was announced on Friday that a mail carrier working in Coarsegold has coronavirus.
Madera County health officials are not releasing the age nor gender but say the postal worker began feeling symptoms and stayed home for two days before getting tested.
The health department has contacted 12 people who were potentially infected by the mail carrier.
Tulare County reported a new death on Friday, making a total of three people who became victims of the virus, and 81 positive cases, up from 74 on Thursday, April 2, 2020.
Kings County’s numbers remained unchanged at 5 cases.
Mariposa County still has no cases.
