Newsom Estimates 25 Million Possibly Sickened by COVID 19, Requests Navy Hospital Ship

SACRAMENTO, CA (KMJ) -Governor Gavin Newsom’s office releases a letter Thursday, asking the President for help from the Navy.

Governor Gavin Newsom’s office projects that more than half of Californians will be infected by coronavirus over the next 8 weeks.

That’s more than 25 million people potentially sick and needing services.

Newsom’s letter asks the federal government to send the Navy Mercy Hospital Ship to help the deal with a surge of COVID-19 patients.

Newsom’s letter says the ship can dock in Los Angeles to ease the strain on California’s hospitals overloaded with patients.
