High Speed Chase Comes To End When Car Catches Fire And Crashes

A 19-year-old man is now behind bars after leading Fresno County sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed chase overnight.

Deputies say they tried to pull the driver over near Clovis and Belmont just before 1:30 a.m.

The driver refused to stop, hitting 3 different patrol cars while trying to getaway.

Deputies eventually used a spike strip to slow the driver down.

He kept driving for a while, as the tires disintegrated below him.

Sparks from the rims caused the car to catch on fire and the driver finally crashed into some construction barriers near Maple and Jensen.

Deputies say the 19-year-old is now booked for an active warrant, but they are not saying what it is for.

No one was hurt.
