Good Samaritans Stop Amber Alert Suspect at Cambria Gas Station

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – An Amber Alert has been canceled, the suspect from San Jose, is in custody thanks to some alert Good Samaritans.

Victor Magana was on the run since Sunday night, when San Jose Police allege he stabbed his girlfriend and abducted their 2-year-old daughter Bethany Carranza.

The child’s mother remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Magana took off in an SUV.

A break came late Monday morning, the suspect had been found.

The 24-year-old man was surrounded by citizens at a Cambria gas station

A group of people who recognized him from the Amber Alert, and blocked his car from leaving.

Magana had locked his keys inside the vehicle where his 2-year-daughter was still buckled in the back seat.

The group called the San Luis Obispo Sheriff.

Magana was arrested.

His 2-year-old daughter was recovered, safe, inside the vehicle.
