FRESNO, CA (KMJ) -Former Fresno double homicide suspect Alan DuPras has died.
The Fresno County Sheriff”s Office released the notification of his death on October 15, late Tuesday afternoon.
He was the sole suspect in the murder of his ex-wife and her mother.
DuPras and her mother were found shot to death in Houk’s Fresno home on the 6200 Block of Colonial Street back in December of 2017.
Jennifer DuPras was newly retired, she had had been an educator in the Kingsburg School district for 26 years and was the former principal of Washington Elementary.
The hunt for her killer led back to her estranged husband,
Sheriff Margaret Mims saying video evidence placed him at the scene.
“The public stepped up and when we asked for it they provided, and in every video we saw near the area where the crimes were committed that vehicle was seen.” said Sheriff Mims.
DuPras was originally booked into the Fresno County Jail on September 25, 2018.
He’d entered a “not guilty” plea for the double homicide and arson, setting his ex-wife’s car on fire, and starting a blaze at the French Club where she was a member.
At his arraignment in September of 2018, he had a black eye after became uncooperative with correctional officers. Fresno County Sheriff”s Office issued the following statement on DuPras’ injuries: “On Tuesday, during the booking process, inmate Alan DuPras became uncooperative with correctional officers. He attempted to walk away from them after he refused to follow their instructions. Officers stopped him from leaving by placing him against a wall. During this action, DuPras hit his left eyebrow area on the wall causing a small cut. He was medically treated; no stitches were necessary.”
DuPras was transferred from the jail to the hospital on October 6, 2019.
He remained at CRMC until his death on October 15th, said Spokesperson Tony Botti in news release;
“On Tuesday afternoon, 59 year old Alan DuPras died from medical complications while admitted as a patient at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.”
