Woman, 61, Becomes Fresno’s 33rd Homicide Victim, Killer Still At-Large

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A woman in her 60’s has become Fresno’s 33rd homicide victim of the year.

She was identified on Monday by Fresno Police as Anita Shelby.

Fresno Police Lieutenant Ron Hughes said the 61-year-old woman’s body was found around 9:00 am. Sunday morning, inside her home on the 3300 block of E. Normal by McKinley.

“We located a female in her 60’s, deceased. She appeared to be suffering from gunshot wounds in her upper extremities,” said Lieutenant Hughes.

Police have learned the shooting took place in Central Fresno at around 3:00 am, but they said no one called 911 to report shots fired.

Shelby’s body was discovered by her family, hours later on the living room floor.

Fresno Police believe Shelby was shot through the front door but was not the intended target.
