FRESNO, CA. (KMJ) – An Amber Alert has been deactivated by the Merced Sheriff’s Office for a 2-year-old boy, who was abducted by his father in Merced.
The California Highway Patrol had issued the amber alert for 2-year-old John Weir on Saturday September 21, 2019 in Merced.
CHP Sergeant Daniel Bowen says it was sent out after the boy’s father, 32-year-old Steven Weir was due to meet up with his estranged wife, Sarah, for a custody exchange — but never showed.
On Monday, the Tuolumne County Sheriff issued this statement.
We have an update on the Amber Alert out of Merced County that we shared on our social media platforms over the weekend.
