Time For Flu Shots! Fresno County Announces 1st Flu Vaccination Clinic

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) The Fresno County Department of Public Health announces the first flu vaccination clinic for the 2019-2020 flu season.

The first flu vaccination clinic will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at the American Legion Hall located at 3509 N. First Street Fresno CA, 93726.

These clinics are no cost for the flu vaccine.

While it cannot prevent all cases of flu, the vaccine is the best defense against the disease and its potential serious complications, which include pneumonia and death.

Everyone over the age of 6 months, regardless of age, is encouraged to get vaccinated.

If children nine years or younger are receiving their first flu vaccine, they should receive two shots this season separated by a period of four weeks.

Protection from the vaccination takes about two full weeks and lasts several months to a year.

Fresno County residents with insurance coverage should contact their health care provider regarding flu vaccination availability.

Vaccines may also be available at physician offices, clinics, pharmacies and at special flu vaccination events promoted in retail stores.
