CLOVIS, CA (KMJ) –  Day 4 of construction for HGTV’s reality show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition took place Friday in Clovis.

The building team is constructing a house from the ground-up for a Clovis man and his family, and mother.

Cal Fire Captain Nick Reeder was widowed with three young children, when his wife Amanda Sawyer died in April of 2018. Sawyer had just delivered their twin baby girls by cesarean.

Reeder’s mother Jeanine (below right) has been living with the family and helping out ever since then.

The Extreme and De Young Properties teams are leading the trade partners and volunteers to make sure the future Reeder family home is completed in time for their return on Sunday, August 4.

KMJ has been covering the story as Cumulus Media has exclusive radio coverage of the big reveal.

The reality TV show’s host, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, best known for his role on Modern Family, and the show’s all-star design team of Breegan Jane, Darren Keefe and Carrie Locklyn are working to customize the house for Reeder and his young children.

Friday’s effort centered on finishing the tile, cabinets, trim, paint, countertops, along with the installation of solar panels.

Thursday’s work was focusing on the exterior of the home with elements like stucco and stone, in addition to the installation of the garage door.

On Wednesday much of the roofing, electrical, wall insulation, and HVAC installation was completed through the night.

The teams were surprised to see HGTV’s Hidden Potential host Jasmine Roth arrive at the build site, Friday morning.

The Huntington Beach resident learned that Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was building a home in Clovis for an amazingly deserving family and she decided to make the drive north to check out the progress on the home, herself.

Roth said she decided to stay through “Move That Bus” on Sunday, after learning more about how special the Reeder family is through friends, family and colleagues at the build site and seeing the amazing progress on their new home.

The public is invited to help Jesse Tyler Ferguson and the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and De Young Properties’ teams welcome the Reeder family to their new home during the official “MOVE THAT BUS” reveal ceremony on Sunday, August 4 at 3:00 p.m. (time is subject to change).

Park and ride shuttles provided by the City of Clovis will be available on the east side of Clovis East High School every day through August 4.

They encourage the public to arrive 1-2 hours in advance to get their front row seat. There will be music and fun for the family. Water and sunblock is strongly encouraged.
