FRESNO (KMJ) – A change in leadership is coming for the Poverello House in downtown Fresno.
the Pov, as it is known, is looking for a new chief executive officer.
Current CEO is Cruz Avila announced his decision to step down from the nonprofit.
Avila joined Poverello house as executive director in 2013.
“It’s been great here at the Poverello House for the last six years,” Avila said. “We’ve dona an amazing, tremendous amount of work with the amazing team here at the Poverello House.”
Avila said he will be serving in a CEO role for another community-minded organization.
Under Avila’s leadership, Poverello House raised funds to build a new warehouse, operations center and improved community housing on the Poverello House campus.
Founded in 1973, the organization addresses homelessness, health, hunger, and housing for thousands of Valley residents each year.
The search for his replacement is underway.
