17,000 PG&E Customers Lose Power in Madera Foothills

 

MADERA COUNTY, CA (KMJ) – Two power outages in Madera County affected around 17,000 customers.

Power went out in the Madera County Foothills just before 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

9,431 customers were affected from Coarsegold to Bass Lake.

7,135 customers lost power from Oakhurst north through Wawona.

A PG&E spokesperson said said the outage occurred at the transmission level.

“At about 1:55 p.m. we experienced a transmission level outage affecting approximately 17,000 customers in the Oakhurst and Coarsegold area,” said Denny Boyles, Marketing and Communications  for Pacific Gas and Electric Company. “We are still looking for the cause of the outage but we have begun to restore customers. Currently, we have restored almost 15,000 customers. 2,053 customers are still without service and we are working to restore them safely and as quickly as possible. I hope to have more details soon.”
