FRESNO (KMJ) – It was originally believed there was no loss of life caused by last week’s major earthquakes, but that may have changed.
Authorities say the July Fourth temblor in the Southern California desert may have killed a man – in Nevada.
Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies in Nye county discovered the body of a 56-year-old man pinned under a Jeep in Pahrump, about 150 miles from the quakes’ epicenter near Ridgecrest, in Kern County.
“The male appeared to be working on the vehicle at the time of his death,” Sergeant Adam Tippets said.
Deputies believed the man was killed when the vehicle slipped off its jacks during the first of the two major earthquakes.
