FRESNO (KMJ) – The California state auditor is looking for a few good men and women to serve on a critically important commission.
The boundaries of legislative districts are made up by a non-partisan citizen’s commission, comprised of ordinary folks, who use US census data to redraw them every ten years.
“It’s not something people, quite often, think about,” Elaine Howle said.
California state auditor Elaine Howle’s office is supervising the process.
“It’s really the opportunity for people of the state of California to determine what their districts will look like,” Howle said.
More than 30,000 applications were received in 2010.
The initial application period runs through August 9.
