UPDATE: The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office saying Friday that the suspect had been considered armed and dangerous, and was wanted by their AG Task Force for vehicle theft in Riverdale and two commercial burglaries in Coalinga and Laton.
FCSO FLYER: On Sunday, April 7, 2019, during the early morning hours, a theft of a 2003 gray Dodge 3500 dually occurred in Riverdale. Later that same morning a commercial burglary occurred in Coalinga. Video surveillance at the scene captured a truck pulling a flatbed trailer. Also on April 7th, an unidentified suspect armed with an AR15 style rifle burglarized a remote federal facility owned and operated by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The facility is located approximately 30 miles northwest of Coalinga, in San Benito County. The suspect was wearing a dark colored mask, blue jeans, skateboarder style shoes and a long sleeve
red/orange shirt. The suspect was driving a gray colored, 4-door Dodge dually 3500. The suspect was towing a gray Dodge dually 3500 truck loaded on a flatbed trailer. Use extreme caution due to the suspect being armed and dangerous. If contacted, detain and notify the Sheriff’s Office at (559) 600-3111 for a possible detective callout.
“On April 24th, Ag Task Force detectives issued a Be on the Lookout (BOL) flyer to numerous law enforcement agencies in the Central Valley. On the night of the 25th, a deputy in Kings County recognized the pickup shown in the flyer and attempted to stop it and a pursuit ensued. Following the shooting, members of the Kings County Sheriff’s mentioned to our detectives that the BOL flyer played a critical role in improving officer safety. By outlining the fact that the suspect was considered armed and dangerous, it heightened the awareness of deputies as they attempted to stop the man,” said Sheriff’s Spokesperson Tony Botti in an email sent Friday, April 26, 2019.
KINGS COUNTY, CA (KMJ) – An investigation is underway in Kings County after a deputy shoots and kills a suspect.
The Sheriff’s Office says the suspect was killed after a chase that started around 10:00 Thursday night by Highway 198 and 19th Avenue.
Deputies found a truck they believed was involved in several burglaries in Fresno and San Benito Counties.
They tried to pull over the driver but he took off.
The chase ending about a half an hour later at Avenal Cutoff Road and Gale Avenue near Lemoore.
The suspect took off on foot.
The Kings County Sheriff’s Office says they searched for the suspect for about an hour, with the CHP aircraft brought in to the fold.
They found the suspect lying in a field.
When deputies approached him, they say he pulled out a gun and that’s when a deputy shot him.
