FRESNO, CA (KMJ) -A suspect is identified in Sunday’s shooting of a homeless man by the 41 Freeway.
The says 24 year old Timothy Nathaniel Calomiris is wanted by the California Highway Patrol for the crime.
The victim, a Caucasian male adult, was shot just after 5:00 Sunday night, on March 24, 2019, the CHP says the weapon is believed to be a semi-automatic hand gun.
The victim was struck several times near a homeless encampment by SR-41 northbound, south of Ashlan Avenue.
Two people from the homeless encampment witnessed the fight. saying as it escalated, and say Calomiris pulled a handgun from his waistband and shot the victim.
The man fell to the ground and rolled down the east embankment, to the asphalt on the shoulder of the freewway.
Calomiris got onto his bicycle and rode away eastbound along the freeway perimeter fence, ultimately dropping the bike at Sussex Avenue at Fresno Street, then taking off on foot northbound on Fresno Street.
The CHP says Calomiris is homeless, but frequently visits his mother’s residence and girlfriend’s homes, he’s known to ride a bicycle and also frequents the area of Cary Park.
He is 5’5”, weighs 148 pounds and hair brown hair and eyes.
Community Regional Medical Center says the 30 year old victim underwent surgery, and is in stable condition.
