FRESNO (KMJ) — After getting approval to implement a new voting system, the office of Fresno County Registrar of Voters wants the public to help figure out the specifics.
It comes after the Voter’s Choice Act was given the green light earlier this month by Fresno County Board of Supervisors.
“In the Voter’s Choice Act, we have voting assistance centers throughout the county and everyone gets mailed a ballot. You don’t have to ask for it as you do now,” explained Registrar of Voters Brandi Orth.
“Then you have multiple ways to return that ballot, or if you need assistance you can go to the voting assistance center.”
Once formed, the committee will be tasked with determining the best locations for the 50 voting assistance centers and the 31 ballot drop off locations to make sure they’re evenly spread across the county. They’ll also be asked to figure out how education and outreach will work.
There are two sessions available for Fresno County residents to find out how they can join the committee. Both are on Thursday March 28th, the first is at 3pm and the second at 6pm. They’ll be held inside the Fresno County Elections Training Facility at 4525 E. Hamilton.
RSVPs should be sent to [email protected] or you can call Cindy Lee at (559) 600-3011.
