Today is Pi Day 3.14
The earliest known celebration of pi day was organized by a physicist in 1988 at the San Francisco Exploratorium.
March 14 used to be a holiday for just mathematicians as both the date (3/14) and the value of pi – the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter – begin with the digits 3.14.
Even NASA is getting in on the pi fun.
What’s the perfect time to launch a rocket on pi day? 3:14, of course!
Three humans launch to the space station for a six-and-a-half month mission.
Back on Earth, you can just enjoy a slice of pie in honor of the day.
Many restaurants and pizzaria’s are offering discounts for you to do so, selling pies at $3.14.
