FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A three-year-old boy is recovering after falling into a pool near Selma.
About 12:15 on Friday, the Fresno County Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies were called to a home near Indianola and Manning avenues near Selma.
Fresno County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Tony Botti says EMS personal actually arrived before deputies.
“They had the child out of the water and were giving him medical aid. He was alert and breathing by the time that they loaded him into the ambulance, and by the time he arrived at the hospital, he was crying by the time,” said Botti. “So definitely a good sign that he had taken a turn for the better.”
Botti said the child was running in the backyard when he fell into the pool, and he was only in the water for about a minute,
The gates to the pool area were left open.
Botti said “We understand that things get busy, but it only takes a quick second for them to disappear and you not know about it.”
