FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A Clovis sex offender is arrested on multiple charges.
Convicted sex offenders are required to register their addresses so that law enforcement can keep track of their whereabouts.
The Porterville Police Department says 31-year-old Jason Colby Bills lied about his job and where he lives.
Bills was arrested in the 4000 Block of Trenton Avenue, in Clovis on Feb. 1.
On January 31, Porterville Police Detectives, managing the City’s sex offender registration found Bills had falsely registered that he lives in Porterville.
He also lied about his place of employment, saying he’d been there for several years, but when detectives tried to contact Bills at his work in the Kingsburg area, on February 1, they were told he was not an employee
Bill also gave false addresses in the Sanger area.
Working together, Clovis Police and Porterville Police Detectives located Bills at his true address in the City of Clovis, where he had been living for nearly a year.
Jason Bills is facing three charges; Failure to Properly Register as a Sex Offender, Failure to Change Registration Address, and Failure to Register in Proper Jurisdiction.
Bills was also found to have an active misdemeanor warrant, which was served.
He was arrested without incident and booked into the custody of the Tulare County Sheriff.
