Identity Released of 22-Year-Old Gunfire Victim in Southwest Fresno

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno Police have identified a 22-year-old man who was gunned down in Southwest Fresno.

Around 9:00 Thursday night, neighbors near Edison High School heard a series of gunshots, and called 911.

Officers arrived to the scene at East Atchison and South Plumas.

“Everyone out there that we’ve contacted was inside the residence apparently when the shots were fired,” said Fresno Police Lieutenant Larry Bowlan. “They heard anywhere from 3 to 5 shots being fired.

Police found Levi Magana, from Fresno, lying outside on the sidewalk but they believe he was shot while seated inside his car that was parked outside the home.

 

Officers, EMS, and Fire personnel provided first aid as Magana was rushed to CRMC, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say Magana was not a gang member.

He had just celebrated his birthday on Jan. 30, a day before he was killed.
