FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – This week marks three years since two teenagers were murdered at a house party in Easton, still, no arrests in the case.
It’s not the type of anniversary to be celebrated, but homicide detectives want to keep this case fresh in the minds of the public.
They want to bring the people responsible to justice.
The party was back on January 29th of 2016, near Cedar and Adams Avenue.
Anywhere from 150 up to 300 people were there when a fight broke-out and shots were fired.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center received the 911 call of shots fired at the home on the 7200 block of Orange Ave.
19 year-old Kayla DeBorde and 17-year-old William Harris of Fresno were killed.
A third person went to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies arrived on scene and detained several people for questioning, but no suspects were arrested.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Spokesman Tony Botti says Kayla’s daughter is now four years old and family members say she frequently talks about her mom.
“Very sad to have to explain to a little kid that Mommy’s not coming home, and the reason why. This family, they deserve more than this,” said Botti. “They should be able to see somebody held accountable for this.”
Detectives are hoping someone at the party had video or photos that at this point they feel comfortable sharing.

Detectives learned through their investigation that the party was advertised on social media, which they say likely contributed to it becoming such a large gathering. The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public about the potential dangers of advertising events to a wide, unknown audience. Doing so increases the chances of people from rival groups showing up and causing trouble.
