Merced High Placed on Brief Lock Down By Police – After Gun Magazine Brought On Campus

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Police placed Merced High on lock down on Monday morning after a student brought a loaded gun magazine on campus.

A student notified a Merced High School Campus Liaison that they found the magazine in the bushes on the campus but did not tell the Liaison that they were the one that placed it there fearing violating school rules.

According to their release, Merced Police investigating learned that the student actually found it on the way to school.

School officials placed the school on lock down once notified of the gun magazine being found on the campus.

Merced PD says the lock down was lifted around 8:45am Monday morning.

The student was not charged with a crime and is cooperating with school officials, police said.

Police are checking the area where the gun magazine was found to see there were any indications that a crime was committed.
