Drive-through/Walk up Flu Vaccination Clinic Scheduled

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – In anticipation of flu season, the Fresno County Department of Public Health (FCDPH) will offer free flu vaccines on Saturday, September 15, 2018.

The clinic will be held at the old UMC parking lot located at 445 S. Cedar Ave. by Kings Canyon.

This event will take place from 8:00am – 12:00pm. and participants are asked to arrive no earlier than 7:30am.

Vaccine supply for this exercise is limited to 600 doses on a first come-first served basis.

The clinic will remain open if all vaccine has been used prior to 12:00pm for informational purpose only.

FCDPH will conduct this exercise to  practice readiness for future public health emergencies.

The flu vaccine is recommended for all persons 6 months of age and older, including pregnant women.

“The best way to prevent the flu is by getting vaccinated. Since flu activity is historically widespread in California, we want to offer the residents of Fresno County a way to protect themselves and their loved ones from this virus,” said Dr. Sara Goldgraben, Fresno County Public Health Officer.

It takes around two weeks after getting the vaccine for antibodies to develop in the body so the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends getting the vaccine early, before flu season, due to the fact that influenza season can be unpredictable.
