FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A man is arrested for jumping on a Fresno Police SUV parked in Downtown Fresno.
The incident started around 11:30a.m. on Thursday, and saw a crowd of around 20 cops surround the vehicle, which was parked outside Fresno County Superior Court at M Street and Mariposa.
23-year-old Adolfo Martinez Lopez was jumping up and down on the vehicle, and smashing out the windshield, causing thousands of dollars of damage in the process.
At one point, the man took off his belt and seemed to be antagonizing the officers trying to coax him down, saying “if you’ve got a gun shoot it.”
“The crisis negotiators were unable to get him off the top of the vehicle, which led to officers getting on the hood of the vehicle, then on top of the vehicle where they were able to push him down to other officers waiting on the ground,” said Lieutenant Mark Hudson.
Lopez was injured, and was taken to the hospital.
Lt. Hudson says Lopez is expected to face criminal charges for both felony resisting arrest and felony vandalism.
