“I should have killed that b—-,” Accused Rapist Tells Fresno Police, After Attacking 52 Year-Old Woman

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – An accused rapist is in custody, after attacking a 52-year-old woman in Fresno

Fresno police say the attack on Sunday was so violent that the victim is at the hospital going in-and-out of consciousness, her face unrecognizable.

Just after 8:00 am., Fresno Police were alerted by a 911 call that a Hispanic woman was lying naked from the waist down behind a beauty supply business at 325 W. Shields by Palm.

Police says the 52 year-old victim was acquainted with her attacker, who took her backpack. She try to get it back, he punched her in the face, it culminated in a violent rape.

Police Chief Jerry Dyer says the suspect is 24 year-old Micah Orlando Collins, from Bakersfield.

“To demonstrate clearly that Collins had no remorse is a statement that he made to officers as he was being taken to jail; ‘I should have killed that b—-, I wouldn’t be here here today.’ That is the type of individual that our officers arrested, and it’s our hope that he will spend a significant part of his life behind bars,” said Chief Dyer.

Dyer said Collins had a rap sheet for previous crimes including assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, and property crimes, and had just been let out of jail on August 14th on an auto theft charge.

Collins is now facing two felony counts of rape and assault and assault with a deadly weapon.

Chief Dyer said Collins was a “sick human being who has no business being in society.”

Surveillance video from the business showed the rape and police say it will help lead to a conviction.

The suspect gave police a partial confession, telling them he did it because she “disrespected him,” and Chief Dyer said Collins told officers he “wanted to put a baby in her.”

Chief Dyer said the female victim was well-educated with both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree, and was a successful businessperson, but by a turn of events and a death in the family had become homeless four years ago and had been living on the streets since.

She had family in the area by Palm and Shields and had often visited them there.

Dyer says police contacted and spoke with her family.

“We are confident that once she receives the necessary medical treatment and the psychological counseling that we’re able to get her in some type of housing,” said Dyer, adding that he’s hopeful that she can get her life back, and he vows they’ll do everything they can to help get her to that goal.
