MADERA (KMJ) — Residential burning in Mariposa, Madera, and Merced Counties has been banned by Cal Fire, as the threat of wildfires continues in Central California.
Officials said the move this week comes alongside warmer conditions and the abundance of dry grass. Locals who need to dispose of yard waste, such as leaves and branches, do have options.
“The fire safe council have wood chipper services that they can provide,” explained Cal Fire’s Jamie Williams.
“There’s also the local landfills that they’re able to take and dispose of vegetation. It just becomes too dangerous to burn, so we implement the burn suspension.”
