Iconic Ferris Wheel On Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Is Closing

FRESNO, CA (KMJ ) – The iconic Ferris wheel at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is closing.

After 60 years, numerous movie and TV appearances, and more than 4 million riders since 1986 alone, the ride is being retired.

The Ferris wheel was down during the winter for routine maintenance, and that’s when the park decided not to bring it back.

In a Facebook post, the Boardwalk apologized for not giving guests the chance for one last spin.

They are still deciding what to put there, possibly even another more modern Ferris wheel.

After people showed interest in owning a piece of history — the ride’s famous seats — the Boardwalk says if they decide to sell them they will let people know on Facebook.
