FRESNO (KMJ) — A power outage at Fresno County’s Hall of Records, which shut some services down early and plunged the Board of Supervisors into darkness, is being blamed on the building itself.
“I’m told that there is a main outage somewhere on the street,” explained Fresno County Assessor-Recorder Paul Dictos.
“Hopefully they are going to get somebody to repair it pretty soon. In the meantime we are losing money; the public is losing money.
Fresno County’s Assessor-Recorder later made the decision to shut down its offices, following Tuesday’s outage.
The County of Fresno’s administrative office confirmed to KMJ News that PG&E had been contacted. Officials established that the problem was with the Hall of Records structure. It is unknown whether or not the wet weather was also a factor.

“It has a big impact because we are not putting in any values, we are not recording any sales, any change of properties,” added Dictos.
“We are not issuing any birth certificates, we are not issuing any death certificates, marriage certificates.
“Everything is shut down.”
Officials acknowledged that the Hall of Records building is in need of repairs.
“We are doing everything we can,” explained Fresno County’s Jordan Scott.
